Desalination unit

We are specifying a desalination plant for water with salinity up to 150 g/l

The DEVA unit is a small-scale, evaporative system designed to produce distilled water at a rate of up to 2-3 cubic meters per day. The unit’s capacity can be increased if needed. Unlike traditional heating elements, DEVA utilizes a cavitation heat generator for water heating.

DEVA requires electricity to operate. In arid regions, where DEVA is commonly used, solar panels, a renewable energy source (RES), can provide the necessary power.

The standard version of the unit consists of a 4-stage rotary impulse apparatus (1) integrated into a tank (2). Inside tank (2) is an evaporation chamber (3), connected by a pipeline to a shell-and-tube condenser (4) and a distillate collection tank (5). The shaft of the rotary impulse apparatus (1) is driven by an electric motor (6). A vacuum pump (7) is connected to the distillate collection tank (5). Tank (2) is connected to the evaporation chamber via a pipeline equipped with a adjustable valve (8), a throttle (9), a water meter (10), and a rotameter (11). Adjustable valves (8) are installed on all pipelines for supplying or discharging liquid. A water meter (10) is installed on the inlet pipe of tank (2).

Here are the advantages of DEVA: • No Consumables: Unlike membrane systems, DEVA doesn’t require consumables, allowing for operation without reliance on membrane suppliers. • High-Salt Water Handling: The use of a cavitation heater instead of traditional heating elements enables the desalination of water with high salt content, up to 150 g/l. Salt deposits on the inner walls of the DEVA tanks do not affect heat transfer efficiency during the heating of desalinated water. • Compact Design: The unit is compact and can be placed in a small container.

Here are the unit specifications:

  • Capacity: Up to 60 l/h
  • Power: 380 V, 26 kW or 18 kW
  • Permissible Water Salinity: Up to 150 g/l
  • Salt Content in Desalinated Water: 0%
  • Dimensions (W*H*L):
  • Approximately 2000*2000*1200 mm
  • Weight: < 700 kg

Depending on customer preferences, the unit can be designed in a stationary or mobile configuration. For mobile applications, the unit can be powered by a mobile diesel generator.

The size of the evaporation tank is determined based on specific operating conditions. The unit can be designed with reduced specific energy consumption by implementing heat recovery systems.
